The Basis Project London Regional Seminar: A 2012 Road Map to Income Diversification
How will you fund your activities this year? Which funders should you apply to for funding? How can your organisation develop new sources of income? Find out at the Basis Project Seminar on 28 February in Central London.
The seminar will explore ways in which refugee community organisations can diversify their income. Participants will hear from expert speakers as well as a variety of RCOs talking about their own experiences of successfully diversifying their sources of income.
You will also have the opportunity to attend practical workshops and, of course, share best practice and network..

10.25 – 11.00: Fundraising in today’s climate and the Increased Need to Diversify Income
Welcome and introduction by the Chair
The first session of the day explores the subject of fundraising during the economic downturn; what are the challenges, and how can we overcome them? Next we will hear from a refugee community organisation that has successfully generated a variety of income streams.

11.00 – 11.50: WORKSHOP 1: Avenues to Diversify Your Income
Four learning workshops, running concurrently. Each participant can attend one session:
- Learn to secure corporate in kind direct, and sharing community space - Sarah Vibert from In-Kind Giving, with Flori Libreros from Community Matters.
- Make Commissioning Possible for You - Huda Al Amin, Development Manager, Mosaada Centre for Single Women
- The dos and don’t of fundraising from the public – Tanika Ah-Wan, Level 10 Training & Consulting Ltd
- Exploring the Social Enterprise Model – Nathan Brown, Social Enterprise Programmes Manager, Olmec
11.50 – 12.00: Coffee break
12.00 – 12.50: WORKSHOP 2: Repeat of workshops above: each participant to choose one.
13.00 – 14.00: Lunch
14.00 – 15.15: Big Lottery Fund: Reaching Community BuildingsDelegates have the option of attending a lunchtime roundtable discussion about a new BLF funding stream that helps voluntary organisations purchase buildings - Vivienne Wittingham, Big Lottery Fund.
Introduction to the afternoon session by chair
In the afternoon session we will explore the state of grant funding in 2012. We will hear speakers from major funders talking about their grant funding programmes as well as from RCOs that will share their success in securing grant funding.
The presentations will be followed by a questions and answers session
